Applications for ANMC scholarships open from 1 July to 31 August each year.
Applicants must be current members of the ANMC before submitting an application.
Scholarships are available for both coursework and research pathways depending on the type of postgraduate study being undertaken.

About the Scholarship
The Michael Dent Scholarship is generously sponsored by Mrs Sandra Dent, a local St Kilda Road resident and supporter of the ANMC.
Michael John Dent was born in Hull, Yorkshire England in 1948 and was brought up in New Zealand. Michael attended Auckland Grammar School progressing to Auckland University to study law at the age of 17. Michael had a very successful career, sadly cut short in December 1998 when he died in an accident aged 50.
Sandra herself a retired nurse, continues to take a keen interest in all things nursing and is pleased to be in a position to contribute to the ANMC in the form of this scholarship in the hope that someone else experiences the joy and satisfaction of nursing and midwifery.

Eligibility Criteria
- You must hold current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
- You must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident.
- You must be a member of the Australian Nurses Memorial Centre.
- Your current or proposed course of study must be at a postgraduate level.
- Your current or proposed course of study must be related to contemporary
professional practice in nursing or midwifery. - You must demonstrate an ongoing commitment to professional practice through two
or more of the following means:- Hold membership of a professional nursing association or special-interest
group. - Contribute to the ongoing development of the team in which you work.
- Be actively involved in innovation in professional practice.
- Show recent involvement in research, e.g. through conference presentation/s.
- Demonstrate a significant degree of community service.
- Hold membership of a professional nursing association or special-interest
- You must complete all sections of the scholarship application form.
- Study must be undertaken in the scholarship year 2026.

Each application is assessed and scored by two members of the Scholarship Committee. Applications are ranked, and the highest ranked applicants are invited to an interview.
