ANMC is a ‘living memorial’ to the heroism and sacrifice of Australian nurses who gave their life or spent years in Japanese prisoner-of-war camps during the Second World War.

    by offering a number of scholarships to exceptional candidates

    Who is eligible?

    nuses undertaking postgraduate study at an Australian University or accredited higher education institution

    The purpose of these scholarships

    to increase access to postgraduate study for nurses and midwives

    When can you apply?

    Scholarship applications are taken between 1 July and 31 August each year

    Our founders Vivian Bullwinkel and Betty Jeffery, were first hand survivors of the war. Their stories are compelling.

    The NMC is a resource for all nurses, and those seeking information about the history of nursing in Victoria, the role of Australian nurses in conflicts, and for those who are either interested in nursing as a profession or its history. With your membership you will also be supporting the future of nursing in Australia.
